The ways to help are endless – from volunteering at local shows to help paras that need an extra pair of hands, to promoting para-dressage by word of mouth, to joining USPEA with a charitable donation.
There are many ways to help financially, as well. You can donate to a specific athlete’s dream or to paraequestrians, in general, by going to USPEA.com. There is an ongoing fundraiser called Travel to the Trials which support the short listed individuals with the many, many costs of showing at an international level. Travel to the Trials can be accessed here: https://app.mobilecause.com/vf/PARA/team/ParaEquestrianDressagePH
You can even become a specialized sponsor like Amy Blackburn at Resonating Wellness. She is my nutrition expert, helping me keep my energy up and my body healthy. Or Jo McCracken at Mobile Horse Supply, who dresses me in the ring – and out!
We need USDF shows that make the FEI Test of Choice available for paras to practice the Novice, Team, and Individual tests before any national competitions. Adding para-dressage classes to a show adds costs and concerns for the show manager. Anything that can be done to lessen the load will help to grow this sport.
